Any Questions?

  • The program is best suited for individuals who are in the early stages of recovery and need support in relapse prevention.

This program is also suited to individuals who are seeking a non-12-step approach to recovery.

Individuals who are challenged by addictive behaviors/habits find this program helpful to support harm reduction or abstinence (food, smoking, spending, social media usage and other addictive behaviors).

  • This is a mindfulness approach to addiction and elapse prevention. As such, you are learning skills and practices to be in the present moment amidst the challenges, discomfort, and triggers in every day life.

It is not meant to be a ‘quick fix’ or eliminate the need for additional recovery recourses or therapy for your individualized journey.

Your attendance in all classes along with participation in class and with after class assignments is an integral part of the outcomes.

  • Engagement with the entire program may be seen ask a risk to one’s current lifestyle, given the time and commitment necessary.

The practices in this program may exacerbate or bring into awareness more strongly physical, emotional, phycological or relationship issues.

Individuals who have a history of trauma or abuse or who have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder may find some of the practices challenging. The teacher can adapt practices to appropriately meet your needs.

The health questionnaire you fill out will help to determine if there is a reason this may not be the best time to engage fully in this program.

  • Yes. Please add to your schedule and be prepared to attend the Orientation Class, 8 weekly classes, and the retreat day.

Consider letting people know ahead of time that you will be committing this time to the program so you can make arrangements for childcare, work sharing, rides, and other necessary responsibilities you may need support with.

You will need access to the internet and download the zoom application as all classes will be held live on Zoom.

  • 2 hours for the Orientation Class and 8 weekly classes

3-6 hours for the all-day retreat

You will also be asked to spend about 20–40 minutes 6–7 days a week practicing the guided meditations you are given and completing the after-class assignments, which involve keeping a daily tracking sheet and some journaling.

  • If you know in advance that you will miss 2 or more, please wait and take the program at another time when you can attend all the classes.

If during the program you miss a class, you will NOT receive a recording of the class itself, but you WILL receive the guided meditation and practice assignments for that class.

  • Will you may experience relaxation or inner peace in some of the meditation practices, this is not the primary intention of mindfulness. Rather, the intention is to increase awareness of your present moment experience which often includes discomfort and learning skillful ways to increase your ability to stay with discomfort.

  • You will be able to download and keep all the guided meditation and mindfulness practices from the program. Practice assignments, worksheets, and logs you can reuse for the rest of your life. The in-person or virtual (depending on the class) sessions will not be recorded.

If there is space, you will be invited back to attend the All-day Retreats for free for any of the MBRP workshops I offer. As long as I have your current email, you will receive an invitation and instructions to attend, either in-person or on Zoom, depending on how I am teaching that particular class at the time.

Please note: Because of the group participation and experiential nature of this program, classes will NOT be recorded.

  • Mindfulness is often misinterpreted as a way to relax and not think about anything stressful.

Mindfulness is about bringing non-judgmental awareness to your life present moment experiences as they are happening.

In the process you may experiences challenging or difficult physical, mental, or emotional states. Mindfulness provides the skills and practices to navigate skillfully and respond in ways that support your life of recovery.

There may be times in meditation that you feel relaxed or peaceful and calm. However, this is not the direct intention of mindfulness or meditation as practiced in this program.

Many people do feel more relaxed, calmer, more focused and able to respond more skillfully in life following a sustained mindfulness and meditation practice.

Here’s what other people often ask about.
